Chocolate Lovers Rejoice!

"Oh you may stray, but you'll always return to your dark master, the cocoa bean...and only the purest can satisfy you." - Kramer on Seinfeld.

And it's so true! Most every single American likes some form of chocolate. Most everyone grew up being told that it was bad for you too, but recent case studies show that this may not exactly be the entire truth. We all know that chocolate has a few psychological effects on a person. It's calming, soothing, comforting. Dark Chocolate is also filled with Antioxidants your body needs and can help to keep your heart healthy. Studies have shown that a good measured portion of Dark Chocolate can be just as healthy for you as a glass of red wine. Dark Chocolate can also help to protect your brain and nervous system due to the resveratrol antioxidant found in it. This keeps your heart healthy, your blood pressure lower and it can inhibit the spread of cancer in the body, especially prostrate cancer.

A few studies also lend to a few other benefits of dark chocolate, because there is a high level of potassium and magnesium which is a natural muscle relaxer. The "good" fats found in it can also enhance brain function, suppress appetite, stimulate metabolism, boost immunity and help to prevent cardiovascular disease.

So how much do you need to reap the benefits of this miracle bean? 6.7 grams a day doctors say. That in plain English is about a small square of chocolate per day.

So don't feel too bad if you indulge every now and again or every day for that matter, so long as you remember that moderation is the key here and to stick to the dark chocolate over the milk chocolate and white chocolates.
