Reconnect to the Spirit of Autumn

Cool air, changing leaves, apples, cider, pumpkins, and ghosts and goblins! These are all things we relate to the season of Autumn and there are several inexpensive ways to decorate your home this season to get into the spirit of the Fall.

  • Preserve some colorful leaves. You can iron them between sheets of waxed paper, microwave them for a few seconds, put them in a solution of glycerin, or press them between the pages of a heavy book.
  • Beeswax candles. The amber color and honey-sweet aroma of these safe, all-natural candles just evoke the golden glow of autumn. As the days get shorter, it can be a soothing ritual to burn a beeswax candle at dusk.
  • Food as art. Apples, pears, pumpkins, decorative squashes, nuts, gourds, and Native American corn can be a simple way to create an abundant centerpiece for your table and what you don't use, you can always eat!
